Welcome to ASIA THEATRICALS
 

Asia Theatricals is an international theatrical producer and general manager with specialist experience producing and touring work throughout the Asia Pacific. Asia Theatricals is based in Adelaide, Australia and was founded by Torben and Richelle Brookman.

Torben and Richelle's touring and producing experience in Asia dates back to 2001 with The Really Useful Group on The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, which was presented at The Great Hall of the People in Beijing and at the Shanghai Grand Theatre in Shanghai and the World Tour of Cats which played throughout Asia, for which Torben was Associate Producer. Torben and Richelle then provided management services to The Really Useful Group on the two and a half year Asian tour of The Phantom of the Opera which involved living in countries throughout Asia for up to fifteen weeks at a time which cemented knowledge of the various local industries, cultures and working practices as well as cementing a network of high level contacts throughout the region.

From 2005 – 2010, Torben and Richelle ran Arts Asia Pacific through which they produced and toured major productions including in 2009/10 the Australian premiere production of Avenue Q (winner of 5 Helpmann Awards) which played for over a year in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland, the world premiere production of Metro Street by Matthew Robinson (nominated for 5 Helpmann Awards) in Adelaide and then in Daegu Korea as the Opening production for the 2009 Daegu International Musical Festival, also in 2009 a six city China tour of Irish Dance company Celtic Legends and a season of La Fin Des Terres by Compagnie Philippe Genty at the National Theatre in Taiwan and a production of The Lonesome West by Martin McDonagh at Belvoir Street Theatre.

Other productions and tours included We Will Rock You (Seoul 2008), La Fin Des Terres by Compagnie Philippe Genty (Hong Kong 2007, Macau 2008), Slava’s Snowshow (Shanghai 2007, Hong Kong 2007, Korea 2008, Taiwan 2008), Jesus Christ Superstar (Seoul 2007 and Busan 2007), Brad Little – The Phantom Unmasked (Seoul 2006, Taipei and Kaohsiung 2010).

Asia Theatricals also represents a selected group of leading performing arts companies throughout Asia including Australian Dance Theatre, Erth and Compagnie Philippe Genty.
